Vinco Difference.

Vinco’s hands-on experience in deploying and supporting large colocation environments on a global scale is what sets our team apart.

Overview

Vinco’s extensive experience in deploying and supporting large-scale colocation environments globally is what sets us apart. Our unique discovery process enables us to understand what is crucial for our clients’ success when evaluating new spaces, suppliers, and regions.

We gather feedback and desired outcomes from all project stakeholders to create a strategic and tailored experience from discovery through implementation. We provide simple, quick, and effective deliverables from targeted markets, supporting dynamic and timely decision-making.

Recognizing that not all data centers are equal and that misinformation abounds regarding density, capacity, and long-lead items like generators and utilities, our tactical vendor-vetting process uncovers critical information and potential roadblocks.

We act as a buffer for our clients, presenting only vetted sites that meet their specific requirements and timelines. We work directly with vendors’ engineering teams to ensure their proposals align with our clients’ needs for scale, timelines, and cost.

High-growth, high-demand clients can leverage our highly experienced engineering or design resources. Vinco consultants integrate seamlessly with our clients’ teams, using in-house tools, industry knowledge, and market expertise to ensure successful outcomes. Dedicated 24/7, our consultants provide a white glove approach that feels like a full-time employee.

By conducting site surveys, vetting networks, and managing DCIM functionality, our consultants allow clients to focus on strategy, thought leadership, and continued success.

Recent Projects

Finance - 1.5 MW

Texas • 2022

Vinco collaborated with this client to manage their colocation RFP, aiming to expand into a new region and integrate their existing site. Key considerations included technical growth, power requirements, network availability, tax incentives, logistics, power benefits, and a thorough hardware verification and RMA process without impacting the clients’ team.

Vinco organized meetings with stakeholders to gather requirements, converting them into measurable objectives. The project resulted in minimal client team impact, board-level review, and the selection of a new supplier. Deliverables included staffing for design, buildout, TPMO, and network architecture implementation. The project was completed on time and within budget, supporting client objectives in under two months.

Deal Specs:

  • $126 per kW all in
  • 36-month term

  • 1.5MW with ROFO for 500kW
  • 10kW per rack
  • $9800 in a full-time resource (provided by Vinco)

SaaS Fed Ramp - 300kW

2024

Vinco has supported this client with global deployments for over five years. Recently, they needed FISMA-certified colocation space for a new Fed Ramp certification and sought our team’s expertise. Vinco helped them build a risk registry that defined their data center requirements. The goal was to deploy at the lowest cost during certification while meeting future high-density needs. We secured a flexible space and power model with the right supplier.

Previously, the client relied on Equinix’s ECX fabric for all cloud connections. Equinix’s minimum cage commitment was too high for their Fed Ramp needs. Vinco sourced Databank, which has a strong Fed Ramp practice, and aligned the client with Console Connect for scalable IP, Layer 2 transport, and cloud connections. The Databank solution was $24k MRR over three years, compared to Equinix’s $65k MRR over five years.

Deal Specs:

  • DC / Chicago
  • 300 kW all in
  • 15 kW/rack

Social Media - 42MW

Virginia, RFP • 2022

For two years, Vinco supported this client with a full-time network/infrastructure peering resource for 35 peering nodes worldwide. Before this, Vinco assisted with their wholesale data center deployment in Virginia. The client faced significant scaling issues and high costs due to reliance on multiple MSPs. Over 18 months, Vinco developed a strategic plan to transition the client off CDN and major cloud providers, leveraging peering nodes at EQX and regional dark fiber providers to create a diverse ring back to Aligned Energy

Deal Specs:

  • 7-year term
  • base + e
  • 42.5 MW
  • 17.3 kW avg density

SaaS QA/Monitoring Tool - (500kW-1MW)

2023-2024

The client, dissatisfied with cost/value/performance at three Virginia sites, asked Vinco to assist with an RFP for an additional 500kW, requiring redundant dark fiber loops. Vinco successfully sourced and deployed them at a nearby site, allowing them to scale to over 1.5MW across two cages. The new site offers higher rack density, optimizing their environment.

This move resulted in 60% savings, including dark fiber rings.  The client is now profitable and plans IPO in 2024.

Deal Specs:

  • 500k-1.5 MW
  • 3-year term
  • All in  VA

AI Company - 1.2MW

Texas • 2024

Vinco has been a trusted advisor to this client since their inception. Initially, we handled a 500kW development project in Hillsboro, Oregon. After the client expanded their user base, they needed a dedicated LLM node for one of their users. With our deep involvement in their logistics and RMA processes, we understood their needs well. When the client needed hardware shipped within a week, Vinco swiftly deployed resources for site surveys and identified a small supplier with ready racks, containment, and 415V whips.

Deal Specs:

  • 1.2 MW
  • 17.3kW density

White Glove - Storage/Back Migration

2022

Vinco supported this client with a full-time technical resource for 14 months. The project involved establishing two new network/peering nodes and dividing a 3MW site in Sacramento into three locations across the US. The client was concerned about managing and timing this transition. Our technical resource helped identify new colocation providers, design a network with aggregate commitments at each peering node, build dark fiber rings to new wholesale DCs, and execute the plan within the tight timeline.
